Need a little help!

I am running a Banks Power Pack, DDII's, and just had a DTT build up a few weeks ago. Getting on the freeway yesterday, my EGT's started bouncing all over the place (gauge or electrical problem, not a temp problem) and my power went to poop. Any ideas what the problem might be, or where I should start?:{

Henry, I would guess the problem is with the Banks electrical connections. Try reconnecting the map connector and the fuel pump wire connection.

I'll bet you're right about the MAP sensor. FYI, I used Simple Green to clean my engine compartment a while back and it was so corrosive that it wreaked havok on some of my electrical connections. My fuel pressure connection was really bad. I saw a tread recommending it's use on the engine... . NEVER AGAIN! I'll bet my MAP sensor plug got fouled. I'll start there! Thanks! My truck is a '99. The Banks Power Pack comes with a pyrometer that actually communicates with the Automind computer.

I've haven't used Simple Green on mine, but it was my understanding that it's a non-toxic, biodegratable, safe cleaner, I don't understand how it can be corrosive?

Rob, if you let simple green dry or do not rinse it thoroughly it will harm some surfaces. Paint will cloud, aluminum and most any soft metal will corrode some. The damage can be repaired fairly easily. A cold or cool engine helps keep it from drying as fast, and a low pressure high volume rinse keeps it out of places it should not be. I have simple green cleaned my engine compartment on several vehicles at least 50 times and never had a problem. I buy the stuff by the gallon and use it for everything, can't get by without it.





For the original problem, I would bet the water and cleaner got in the wiring for the ottomind, and it is the source of the problems, I would clean and put some dielectric grease on all of the connections.

That's my plan. I hadn't even considered the use of dielectric grease for all my connections until a recent thread suggested it. Perhaps this would have prevented the problem. As for the Simple Green; once bitten, twice shy so I think I'll just steer clear. Thanks for the thoughts!

Thanks guys, I cleaned and reconnected the MAP sensor plug and fuel wire with dielectric grease and it runs like a champ.
