well I will be needing a quad cab. Thinking that I would prefer to stay with the 305/555 engine for simplicty sake? I was getting ready to drop the dollars on a new GB auto for the current truck. How do people like the NV5600? Is the clutch and 6th gear the only two weak points? I drove an 09' G56 yesterday, how would that compare to the NV5600 shifting wise?
 
The G-56 in my opinion is a much easier shifting transmission than the NV5600. Reverse is right next door to second where it should be. Clutches are weak though. I'd look at the auto in the '09's. The emissions will keep you from going to Baja extensively as I don't know when they'll have ULSD throughout the peninsula. There are a lot of nice used units for sale out there.
 
I cant fund a "new" truck. I'm looking for a nice 3rd gen that I dont need to drop too much into. What year did the mandatory ULSD engines come in I would like to stay with an auto, just dont know if i will be able to spend the money on it, at least for a while. I've got 9 months until i need a backseat so I have a little time. I'll list the current truck for sale and go from there.

'07. 5 on the ULSD.
 
I love my NV5600! It shifts great but my clutch has always been stiff. My brother has a 06 G56 and it shifts smooth but has a notchy feel to me. However his clutch is very smooth, I like to call it butter clutch since mine is so much stiffer.
