04. 5-06 600 series engine with the Jacobs Ebrake. Preferably with out a muffler. Wanna see how it sounds before chunking out the dough. wanna here it inside the cab while going down a hill and while at idle both inside and out. Any help would be apreciated guys

the exhaust brake doen not sound like a engine brake it has a flapper valve inside the exhaust elbow sounds like exhaust is being starved, i have heard it with and without exhaust doen not alter sound of exhaust ,when switch is flipped makes exhaust quieter if you have cold air intake you can hear through that more than exhaust

The exhaust will have a hissing sound at idle with the brake engaged and at any rpms with braking load applied. This is caused by the small oriface in the butterfly valve used to create backpressure against the engine. I have the Jacobs and it is very manageable sound wise, even at 3000 rpms and loaded. I'll try and get a sound clip sometime for ya.

kd,ya might wanna try your local dealer, about 2 weeks ago the dealer closest to me had a new one sittin on the lot. there was one on a lot in a neighboring town also. just a thought... of course it will have a muffler still on it...

you will hear the vacume pump a lot more than the engine noises. i have been looking into ways to make ti a bit more quiet since it tends to scare people around town.

when you have a nice load behind you and let it on at 3200rpm then it sounda NICE!!
