Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Need a VP-44 core

Hey, it is a LONG story and I won't go into it here. But, I need a VP-44 core. I'll gladly give you the details if you send me a PM.



I will be heading north from McAllen up through San Antonio and Dallas, over to Memphis and up to Illinois the end of September. Anyone along that route have something I can pickup along the way? I am willing to pay a reasonable price if needed.

Steve -- just a thought, but you might try http://cumminsstuff.com. They are listed in a couple other posts as selling VPs for $750 with a core charge either $150 or $250 (just can't remember)... call them (seems like they are in TX, so convenient for you) and maybe they'd sell you a failed pump for the core charge.

Maybe I should have given a little more information in my post. I need a core to turn in for the core charge. I am going to start carrying a spare pump and need a core. I do a lot of cross country driving in both the States and Mexico. When my pump failed a while back it was a DISASTER getting one in central Mexico! It is kind of counter productive to pay the going price for a core at one place so you can turn it in at another. That is why I am asking if anyone has one they would sell for a good price.

Everything I've seen suggests $250 is not the going rate for a core, rather the going core charge seems to be ~$600, w/ the pump cost at the same places running ~$1400-1600. Makes a $250 core and $750 pump a deal in my book (just paid $1600 when I needed one, plus $600 if I wanted the core). A number of members have been thinking of getting a spare since this source is about 1/2 price including the core charge.
