i have been reading here and found that most guys that do the 2" levelling kit( like i did ) also installs a adjustable trac bar, i remember that every year when i install my new track bar that i have to get a buddy to push the front of the truck toward the passengers side so that i can get the bar to reach

that being said i guess my axle is not centered in the truck.

Could this cause alignment issues? my truck is eating tires and camber is off

any thoughts thanks

i have an adjustable track bar now, how should i install it? just let the truck sit naturally with no track bar then adjust the new one to reach?

Yes an axle that is not centered to coud cause problems with pullingot one side.

It seem to me that once you have the track bar on you shoud be able to align the axle. I printed out instructions(but don't know where they are) from Thuren for there track bar.

. : THUREN FABRICATION :.

Click on "products" then you have to click on suppension... then click on 2nd gen track bar 94 to 02, 0 to 3 inch lift then you will see installation instruction toward bottom of page ( in the mean time I will look for my instructions they seem to be different than the ones he has now).

thanks, thats a very interesting website, thier track bars look impressive. i just bought an XRF Lifetime warrenty adjustable track bar, hoping i can get my axle centered now. i hope that somehow thats whats causing my camber to be off thanks

The track bar has no effect on camber. It only keeps the axle from moving side to side. The track bar should help with wander though. How do you know the camber is off? Did you get the truck alighned? The only way to adjust camber is to install ball joint sleeves with pre-deturmined degrees of off set, or to purchase adjustable ball joints. As far as installing the track bar, you can remove the old one while leaving the truck on the ground. Measure the old one and set the new track bar up the same. Get one end in first, then the other end should be close. Then adjust the axle to line up the holes. After that, just get the axle centered. I used a tape measure to get it centered. Good luck.

i have tried to get my truck aligned many times ,but they all tell me that i have negative camber issues -3 on drivers side -1 on passengers side.

so i have bought a new adjustable track bar and i`ll get the front axle aligned this time.

but i do expect to have to put offset ball joints in it.

if the axle is not parellell with the rear axle the wheels would have to turn to get the truck going straight, and if the wheels were turned when that would make the wheel appear to have negative camber because when you turn your wheels the caster tips the wheels. i dunno just thinkin outloud here has ha haha h

I would get it alighned after you install the track bar. Then see were you are at. Your thinking on the reason the camber may be reading out sounds very possible. Please keep us posted.

GreggNoble,

Sorry for digging up an old thread, but I noticed that you ordered and XRF adjustable track bar. Mind if I ask how it is holding up? I need to replace my Luke's Link modified stock bar after now having to shim it 3 times. I've found an XRF dealer here in Colorado Springs and thinking about pulling the trigger on their track bar to take care of the slop and like you, center the axle. Thanks in a advance.
