I would like some advice,Im looking at 2 used 3500 daully 6.7 with the 68rfe. One is an 07.5 and the other is an 08 both bighorns. The 07 has 16k asking 39k and the 08 has 18k asking 35k both are on the west coast. I know the 6.7 and 68rfe come out in 07.5 was there any issues with the 6.7 or 68rfe in the early stages of production. I plan on towing a 5th wheel that's about 15k. Anything I should stay away from or watch for, Any advice would be much appreciated. Here are the last 8 of the vin's if anyone is able to check and see if any issues were reported. The 08 is 8G1403362, 07 is 7G823186.

Yes sir, the 07 is in Tempe AZ, I plan on test driving the 08 this weekend. Was there any emission issues in the first few years of the 6.7. Anything else you can recommend I look at while I'm looking at the truck. The truck is at a used truck dealer, do you recommend that I take it to a Dodge dealer to have it inspected before I buy it.

I personally would not buy a 4th gen untill the 13 model year because of the software/aftertreatment design. The expense to repair is very significant. At The mid 30k price I would go for a later model.Neither truck showed any warranty aftertreatment repairs but I would still be leary. An idependant inspection is a good idea but the brakes, lights, basic inspection items can't assure you of aftertreatment expenses down the road.Good luck with your decision.

Thank you.

yeah get a 14 or newer, they have the newer suspension, but the DEF came out in 13,
i have an 08, but it's for "off road" use only, and i don't live i CA anymore. amazing trucks though. but the EGR and DPF and what not are not good for MPG's, they changed the trubo on 08-09 (not sure) for an access port for soot cleaning. my 08 does not have said port. mine was built in 8-07.
good luck.

The cleaning port can be added(there is a drill fixture available) but without the scan tool it will not be much use.The avg cheapo turbo shop rebuilds leave a lot to be desired

agreed, i have 160K on my 08 and the EB doesn't feel as it used to, or maybe i'm getting more used to it. either way, i'm on the hunt for another turbo.
