Question about "coolant level low" and CEL

2014 3500 Observations / Issues?

I am looking to boost the power of my 2012 Laramie Longhorn. I tow several trailers, but the heaviest is a living quarters horse trailer, at 17,000 lbs. full loaded. Perhaps I'm now used to the power of this truck, but would like some more pulling power. I'd like something simple to install, doesn't leave a footprint on the computer, and won't cause transmission problems. Price is also a consideration. I'm not concerned about drag racing, but pulling power. Is there such a thing? All manufacturers claim there's is the best, but I'd like to hear from folks that actually use the product, and what results, including possible damage or warranty problems have occurred. Of course, I'd like to hear the success stories as well. Can anyone help me with a little advice? How about it transengineer??

Sorry no such thing as not leaving a footprint on the trucks ECM. Ram change the programming in the ECM for the 6.7L trucks and any tuner or power enhancer will leave a foot print behind. Once added you will become your own warranty station on the engine if Ram can prove that said tuner or power enhancer cause the failure to that component.

I became my own warranty station in Aug 09; when I installed a Smarty S67 on my truck and have been happy every since with no engine or transmission issues what so every. I do tow on level 3 which adds about 60 HP and 120lb-ft to the truck at the rear wheels according to Mads Electronics which sells the Smarty. If EFI live was available for you model of truck I would recommend this one but it is only offered from 06 to 09 Rams with the Cummins. So I would recommend the Smarty for your truck in the US version if you do not want to delete.

Yes, on leaving an indicator on any 6.7 ecm. Also, the turbo etc. are just enough for the factory HP and limit on egt. The slippery slope can be very steep--first you add fuel, then the pyrometer tells you you need a bigger turbo, then the clutch or automatic need beefed up for the big torque increase, on and on. I have been there and done that. I had over 500 HP on my 2004 with South Bend Con-fe clutch, BD twin turbos, etc. and had to watch egt as well. My 2013 is stock, and has enough pulling power with 385 at the flywheel, probably about 345 at the wheels, and I plan to leave the power stock. With the huge improvements for 2013-14, and the $10k or so discounts off list on leftover 2013-3500-385 HP with Aisin, you will probably be happier doing that upgrade for about the same cost as when you are done improving your 2012 and dealing with any warranty issues in the future on your own dime.

I have the same truck and have a combined load of over 28K and have 3:42 gears. I am happy with how mine performs. I am sure if I had 4:10 or 3:73 it would be even better. I would not touch the truck, in my opinion they are great right out of the box!

Thanks guys. I am wondering if I have got used to this truck, so that it doesn't seem that strong anymore. Guess that's the case.

Since EPA has cracked down on companies with their delete capable programmers. What's left out there in retail are going very high $$$ to purchase one now. I will tell you with custom tuning with a tuner who knows what he is doing, you will have a great driving truck with a little more kick in the pants TQ/HP. The 6.7's are very clean with good tuning.

You might be able to find some used delete capable tuners, or RACE ME does still make a delete tuner. Smarty and others do make non delete tuners also. I am running a Smarty JR on my 2011and happy with it

You might look into a set of small nozzles, like 35 hp. You would need gauges, but on a stock 6.7 the EGTs are all over the place with regent and retarded timing.

That's WAAAAY more involvement than I had hoped for. On my '06 5.9 3500 I had just added an Edge E-Z, and it was just the thing I was looking for. I was hoping there was something on that order that I could add, and that would be it, without other involvement. thanks for the advice, though!!
