Turbo upgrades for 6.4L 'strokes

Taking your truck in for service

My buddy has an '05 F250 powerstroke. He installed and edge juice w/ attitude monitor. He is having problems with the unit overheating and the monitor shuts off when he drives. Durning the summer, when he is pulling his lawn trailer he has to pop his hood between accounts to let air inside the motor and then the monitor turns back on and works again. He called edge and they didn't know why its happening. Does anyone know what he can do to solve his problem with? Has onyone had this happen to them?

Have him pull the edge unit and see if the problem stops.

Be sure to look for signs that the head gaskets are bad; coolant blow-by from his fill bottle, oily deposits in same tank. There is also the EGR cooler that can cause problems. There is also a TSB on the fan clutch causing over heating.

Pull the edge and let us know.

He hasn't had any issues with his truck. He'll never own anything different.

He does have the box mounted where he is supposed to. He called edge and they couldn't help him. He's not impressed with their service.

His truck doesn't overheat, he just says there is no room under the hood for air to circulate well. That's why he thinks the box is getting to hot and shutting down. I told him to take everything apart and send it back to edge for a replacement.

Has he tried insulating the box... like loosely wrapping some aluminum foil around it? Sounds like its heat sinking...

If Edge can't help him, I'd get rid of the Edge (and tell Edge you are getting rid of their product for something else) and get something else that actually works.

It's been a while since I've looked under the 6. 0 hood, but can he move the module to a location with more air.

He tried to move the unit closer to the fender well, but no such luck. He told me yesterday that he is going to disconnect everything and send it back to edge and tell them he wants it replaced. I'll keep everyone informed on what edge finds out.
