Alterntor went out dealer say's 3 days auto zone 1 week maybe?

anyone have part # for something that will fit from cummins

that will bolt right up

Just call Cummins...

if they have it, it will be considerably cheaper than the dealer. They just may have it. Can't hurt to try.

Turboduck, I am sure that some auto electric shop in your area will rebuild yours in a few hours. A reputable shop usually does a better job on them than a mass rebuilder.

Went to work in wife car this morning, and brought my

alt. . with, on lunch took it to rebuilding shop the guy

put it on his tester and called me over , and said love

to sell you a new one or rebuild this one but this is putting out

13. 7 volts under full load suggested I check fuse. That was it

140 amp alt fuse. The reason the fuse blew was I used a

wrench to get oil filter off and arced the alt and thought

that alt was damaged. didn't have any idea that it was fused'

Back on the road thanks to fellow tdr members

Some have the dealer perform TSB 08-23-00 (thanks Dave Fritz). Others insulate the back of the alternator themselves.
