I have been told to have the rocker arm pedistals machined off to have valve cover clearance but I dont have any instructions on doing this, Can someone please copy the instructions or atleast let me know how much needs to be machined off? Please In a hurry the machine shop closes at 1

Thank you.

Do you have the newr studs or older version? The older version doesn't have to have the pedastals machined, you can grind the inside to the valve cover top for clearance. Let me check and see if we have any of the new instructions laying around and I will post them as well.

Well thats the problem, I just got these a couple weeks ago so I do not know if they are the older ones or not, ARP was no help when i called them yesterday. They gave me a number to a guy in texas and he said he was sure they needed machined but was not real sure on how much, My instructions dont say anything about machining anything.

If your instructions don't say that the pedastals need to be machined then you should be OK. The new instructions are very detailed on where and how much to remove... .

No my instructions dont say one thing about it. So are these the ones that i need to grind the webbing out of the valve covers? Is there any problems caused from doing it that way?

I had to grind the inside of the valve cover and grind the stud down to the top of the nut for mine to fit. but it does help to run a bottoming tap down the hole in the block first it will lit the stud go alittle further down in the block.

I just use a hand grinder to grind the valve covers on the inside.
