2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Seat rebuild

Hello,
My 1995 Ram 3500 sprang a leak in the return side transmission cooler line (long story, short version, it rubbed against the supply line, clip/banded against each other)
Obtaining a replacement line appeared an easy task/internet search, right? Wrong! Found a Dorman* part number 624-352 (to replace OEM part number 5011544AA)
The new line came with compression "Swagelok" type fittings, the original had quick-disconnect "garter-ring" type.
The new line doesn't have the nipples nor rings to accept a quick-disconnect "garter-ring" type fitting.
The transmission end fitting looks to be straight threads, (3/8" i.d. and 5/8" o.d.)
The cooler end fitting also looks to be straight threads, (5/16" i.e. and 1/2" o.d.)
Anybody out there ran into this?
Any help would be appreciated!

I have not run into the problem you speak of, but I have had to change my lines due to chafing. When in installed the new lines I wrapped any rub points in hose. I believe they updated the fittings somewhere around 98. I had a recall that took care of it. I would check if the recall on your truck. I don't remember exactly what they did, but they may have changed you cooler connectors. You may just need an updated adapter. Many replace the hard lines with soft lines and barbed fittings. Probably the cheapest and easiest route. Keep us posted on how it works out.

I need your VIN. I used a VIN for a '97 truck to get this illustration.

Also identify the line by reference number.

I ordered OEM lines from a Dodge dealer, some give discounts. Came with the updated fittings. The hard lines will rub some, rubber coolant or fuel line etc help with the issues. The OEM lines don't fit perfectly, mine didn't, but they are good quality with nice bends. The OEM separators didn't do enough, light weight plastic junk. I like the universal metal clamp separators better. Try NAPA.

replaced all mine years ago with Aeroquip flexible hydraulic lines and JIC fittings,,while i was it,,rerouted to make more sense and even included a remote spin on filter in the front bumper area close to the cooler entrance, been like that over 10 years,,never a problem,WAY cheaper than stock lines that will rub and leak again someday, plus the extra safety of an additional filter BEFORE the cooler,i dont think i spent $100.00 for the entire job.

Just ran into the same problem, except it was on the passenger side.(Heat exchanger?). Halfway through a 3.5 hr. trip, lost my transmission fluid, lost overdrive and cooked my transmission.

Just like SSage said, those OEM separators didn't do much in separating the 2 lines.

While you're at it, it wouldn't hurt to check every single line on a regular basis. I sometimes forget how much these diesel engines vibrate.
