I just put my gauges in and my pyrometer was working fine then it just died, then it started working again but not accurately. I have the autometer C2 gauges. the probe is grounded out with a hose clamp and a wire running to neg side of batt just to be safe. the light wire is hooked into the headlight switch, and the pyro is wired into the cigar lighter. what am i doing wrong.

Call auto meter, they have a great tech help service. I had a floppy needle on my phantom pryo. the tech talked me through a diagnosis over the phone. I just needed a better ground, and it looks like you have a good ground set up. he told me to un hook BOTH wires from the probe and turn on the key. depending on the readings he could tell if the gauge or the probe was faulty. ( I tryed it with only one probe wire disconnected and got different readings than with both wires off) I don`t remember the reading numbers `cause it has been over a year since I did the test. If the gauge is faulty, you return it with a copy of your purchase receipt, and get a new gauge. Call`em.
