I have a 2001. 5 Non Infinity radio with cassette player. I have been using a XM Skifi Radio with cassette adapter. I just order a new Roady XT XM radio that has the FM modulator, but think I would like a direct connection to an aux input. Did any of the stock non Infinity Dodge radio's have aux inputs? Does anyone have one laying around the garage?

Other suggestions. Anyone using the FM modulator in the Roady XT, how does it work?

I have that FM adapter on the boat radio. I would really like a direct AUX connection, but might have to install an aftermarket radio to get that. SNOKING

I use the XM supplied FM modulator and I think it sounds fine. However, I am sure the sound quality is better with the direct connection.

Does the Delphi set-up work with other devices? Like MP3 players. Or are the connecters on it just for Sat. radio?

If you are talking about the FM modulator that goes into the antenna coax, then I believe that it has a standard male mini stereo plug. You should be able to plug any MP3 type device onto it. It transmits to the radio on 87. 9 FM. I believe that there are other universal devices that do the same thing. SNOKING

I've got the stock FM/cassette radio in mine, but added a 6 disk CD changer that uses an FM modulator. It works great and the sound quality is top notch.

Got the Roady XT, ended up still using the cassette adapter, as I did not want to mess with the antenna Dongal on the new Sure Connect FM modulator. I think I am going to really like the auto on feature which the old SkiFi did not have. I was checking out new CD Receivers. I liked the Panasonic CQ-C3333U, it has line in AUX connections and 7 colors for the display. Maybe later! BTW the new Roady XT has color choices for the display also, however non seems to match the DC dash lights. SNOKING

Snoking...

The aftermarket stereo's use a 2mm stereo jack on the front for audio input. I have a Pioneer DEH-P6800MP unit which is a Mosfet 50x4 unit. I have used mine with both style of players on my XM SkiFi2 unit and the jack style connector. The best sound yet is still out of the older style hard wired modulator which you run the sound into your radio with the antenna lead. I know theya re a PIA to do becaue of having to pull the dash and radio out but its the best sound. I am not one for the built in modulators at all on these radios,to put it mildly they suck. Too much time is spent searching for clear air channels when traveling and when a more powerful station is nearby the bleedover is annoying.

When you opt instead for the jack style connector for your XM directly into your stereo it creates another problems also. Most all of those style connections are done up front on the bottom of the flip face. The chance that you could pull it out accidently is quite possible as you can not hide it easily. I will take my digital camera out and take a shot of it later with the jack connector done for you.

My advice is to stay with the hard wired modulator for best sound and optimum performance and all around cleaner install looks. Also, your Non-Infinity has no aux inputs and nor do the Infinity radios. Hope this helped... ... . Andy

those little relays that hook to the antenna on the back of the radio are awesome. I always hated looking around for different stations. I have sirius but im sure the xm works the same. I saw one for xm at best buy.

Well, what I have decided to do is replace the boat stereo first with one of these.

Panasonic

I then will move the Delphi Coax FM Modulator to the truck for a while and hopefully my wife will authorize the same Panasonic for the truck at some point. This model has an aux input on the back of the unit, plays MP3 and WMV and CDs. Display has 7 color choices. SNOKING

Well I made a minor mistake on the radio in my truck, dooh.

Upon doing some other work today in the dash I figured out it had two auxiliary inputs for external audio devices on the back, along with the smaller front one. So this unit will handle a satellite input direct from your movable radio and a input for a Ipod style device.

At any rate here is how I mounted mine earlier in my truck. The CD Player was done with all the neccessary profit parts from Circuit City and a little help from a few calls to a good friend who helped me trouble shoot a minor problem. It seems the first stereo "installer" did not know what he was doing and never got my rear speakers to play. A trip to Circuit City and a chat with a installer there and a different harness and I was in good shape.

I used a old mounting bracket from a Mopar Cell phone holder which I used to have before its "Made in China" design lead to failure after a month and a half. I took the phone holder and tossed its bracket for the 4 holes to mount the XM and reinstalled it all. Today when I reinstalled my dash I removed the XM modulator and used the rear auxiliary input for the XM. Man what a different sound the digital has now a completely different sound. It played so nice I couldn't believe that I didn't do that earlier. To power the XM I took the cigarette lighter plug and cut it off, wired in a fuse holder and tapped in where I got the power for the old modulator. I am glad I did it and realized I could wire into the stereo head direct with the digital sound.

Here are a couple photos showing the XM mounted and the front side jack if you desire to use it for your XM. You will need a mini jack connector to use this connector. The rear ones are standard 2. 5mm and the 2. 5-2. 5 mm connectors are realitivily cheap..... Hope this helped..... Andy
