Any idea what I'll be charged for replacing the ball joints ? Can I get replacements that are made in USA ? What should I ask for for. Anything else I should expect to be in need of replacement, I already did the track bar.

Also, are the hubs and yoke removed for the job, they look like they are in the way ?

Thanks

For the labor involved, I'd go ahead and replace all 4 to save money down the road. The largest part of the labor, time wise, is removing the wheels, brake calipers, bearing/hubs. Personally, I'd replace the wheel bearings while I was in there, as they are chronically prone to failure. If you have 4 wheel ABS, or buy a new bearing set with the holes for the ABS, I'd suggest filling them with some high-quality grease at these points. Replacement for both the Ball Joints and the bearings are available made in USA. The best brand for replacement is a week-long discussion, followed by WW3. I, personally, use Moog ball joints in my shop, and have had good service from them. Federal-Mogul I believe makes the American made bearing I use. Check your brake pads while your there, as it's very easy to change them while you are going back together with it. For just changing the ball joints, I'd say 6-8 hours, but don't have my Chrylser book to look at for sure. I charge $60hr, so that's $360-$480 in labor, plus parts, where the ball joints, I "think" run around $52 for uppers and $80 for lowers, two each side. Wheel bearing replacement will add 2-4 hours, I'm guessing, depending on what type of rotors you have, and the bearings cost just under $200. If you need brake pads and rotors, this is the time to do it, if your pocket book can take it. :{ Otherwise, get the ball joints done, and you can come back to the bearings later if they feel ok and spin freely without any noise.....

Thanks for the very informative response. Labor rate here is 2x what is is in your area. I'll see what they say in the morning. I know now what to ask and how much labor is involved. I'm thinking I'll do whats needed to pass inspection and keep it in safe working order. I'm going to replace the truck with a 2012.
