Thanks in advance

I have a set you can use, but you you have to get to Oregon to get them. ;) I think you can get them at Les Schwab or Napa. I would just start calling all the parts stores. Hope this helps. Oh ya we are getting a lot of snow this year.

Give AW Direct a try. www.awdirect.com 800-243-3194 I'm looking in thier catalog and they list chains for a 315/55R/16. If you talk with one of the reps maybe they can crossreference a size that will work for you. I know they are mail order but this place is outstanding in thier deliveries. They promise one day to Ca.

Oh, I have no connections with AW Direct, i'm just a very well satisfied customer. :p

If I'm not mistaken. . which I frequently am... the 315/75/16 is the exact same tire as the 35X12. 5/15 tire... . just a smaller rim. . see if you can find a set for those tires..... They are very popular.

Dan, once you get out of the sunny Southland you can find truck tire chains at most every tire shop or auto parts. Just stop in Redding on your way north, the ramp just after the lighted pass condition sign is a good place. Les Schwab has a deal where you can return their tire chains for a full refund if unused, I'm not sure if it applies to trucks though.

Thanks guys

les schwab does not list a chain for a 315(called redding store last week) i will try napa and A W FF1607 the tire sizes are the same although non avail for the 35/12. 5/15 either Illflem i am trying to get this done in advance as i want to make the best time possible on this possible weather challenged trip. :D

Jon if i make it to portland we will stop by on the way to the gorge.

Diesel Dan, my cell number is 503-720-5295. We get a parts supply from I believe Torrance every day and it gets delayed due to snow. I believe it comes up I-5. There is a pass that gets a lot of snow. So if you can get chains before it would probably be good. But if you need mine give me a call and we can meet up some place. Troutdale has very cheap diesel.

4wheel parts wholesale [locations all over the place ] has chains shown in their catalog. . I haven't looked up that size though. . but they do carry very large tires for off road , so it might be worth the call... 1 800 ??

also I'm not their best fan. . [been there done that] . . as to service

Thanks for the help guys.

4 wheel parts wholesale has them in stock 10 miles away from me @ $ 71 for a pair sounds like cheap insurance to me

Dan, if you've never put on tire chains before do a practice run in your driveway first. Sure beats learning how to do it on the side of the Interstate in six inches of slush with semis sloshing you and numb fingers to boot. You will also find out if they fit. Sometimes the chains have a little extra that that you should cut off so they don't beat the crap out of your wheel wells, easier to do this at home. In my older age I've gotten so I just pay the guys who hang out in the chain-up area to chain me up, well worth $20 to me.

Some folks from other parts of the country may not know this but California actually has a lottery for commercial tire chain installer permits each year to limit the number of installers at the chain up areas on I-5 and I-80. Competition is fierce for the permits, a good installer can make over $2000 a day, they use floor jacks to install them and can do a rig in less than 5 minutes. They also sell/rent chains for outlandish prices. Of course the work is very seasonal.

Dan,

you may want to check Wal-Mart. I just got a set for my company vehicle, it has 265/70-17's and they had a set for it. were only $34. They may or may not have a set for yours.

good idea illflem i will do a dry run before i leave.

Paccool

checked w/wally mart and the look on the salesperson when they looked it up was priceless (quite clueless)

thanks for the help guys

Dan,

I get a lot of those looks also. You need to know what you are looking for because it isn't often you find someone in Wally World that knows anything about what they are selling!

Anyway, was just a thought.

Have a good trip. :)
