Well I installed my SBC yesterday but it doesn't release completely. I have a 1/2 clutch slave in my truck which I installed because the orig. seemed to be weak and I had a little shifting difficulty back then. I need to go back to the 3/4T slave for it to work properly since there is not enough travel in the 1/2T version. Big Bob went through this sequence of events too and had the 1/2T slave in his when he put his SBC in and had disengagement problems. The 3/4T slaved cured the problem.

I have called around today to Pep Boys, Napa and even to Raybestos (who makes the aftermarket slaves) and they all say nothing is available for the 2-wheel drives. Raybestos says theirs will not work on a 2wd. Grrrrr!

Just wondering if anyone has some input. My feeling is the 4wd slave WILL work on my 6-speed since I see no reason for it to be different (the 1/2T slave is a 4x4 pn I have on it now). But I don't want to spend $100 then not have them take it back if it doesn't work.

Thanks guys.

Thank You Peter!

Well I called Peter at SBC and he got me all fixed up. He is having a slave cylinder drop shipped to me for much less $$ than I could have gotten it anywhere locally (and just as fast!). Once again SBC goes above and beyond

Evan, I had Shelley's in Spokane do it (home of Diesel Thunder :D ). After seeing how huge that transmission was I was glad I had them do it. I was surprised how much larger it looked out of the truck. Since it doesn't take long to drive up to Spokane I just went up there and had them do it and they did a good job.

I want to thank Big Bob too since he was helpful getting me steered the right direction on the slave cylinder issue and for suggesting I have Shelley's install the clutch

SBC is sweet now!!!

Well the new slave arrived and I put it in l ast night. Wow this thing works awesome now! The clutch engages when pedal travel is about halfway off the floor.

This SBC clutch just rocks! It engages smooooooth, no grabbiness or judder or anything. Plus the pedal effort is so easy. Just amazing! I had a fun drive last night :D

The new slave is made by Rhino Pac and seems to be a bit better quality-wise than what Napa sells. Cliff do you still have the 1/2T slave in your truck?? If so, call Peter and get the right one. I remember you mentioning you had a bit of trouble with disengagement.

It was so nice to be back driving my rig after having it parked for 5 days. Especially after riding to the Seattle area and back in a '88 Mazda 626 (can we say gutless and terrible road noise??) and driving around in my '68 Cougar for 3 days (actually very cool car but the 127k 34yr old 302 is a little weak).
