ok tdr bretheren ...

i'm gonna make my '01 a shortbed dually ...

with the help of friends i've met on tdr i've got 6 third gen tires and rims ...

found a place to get shortbed dually fenders ...

found a guy with a dana 80 cab and chassis ...

all i had to come up with on my own are the front axle spacers and lug nuts ...

spacers are 100$ a piece from dodge ... ordered them today

dealer wants 8$ a piece for lug nuts ... and these guys have always treated me right so don't give 'em a hard time

so i went to napa and they could only find srw lugs ... having problems with their computer

does anyone have a part# for an '01 3500 dually lug nut ...

would prefer napa because my freinds work there but also have autozone and advanced nearby

now if anyone has 32 dually lug nuts in a coffee can full of oil i'd gladly get rid of them for you :-laf

thanks

Steel wheel with center cap and ring on the 2001-2500

Steel wheel with center caps and wheel inserts on the 2001- 3500 dually

Unless I'm wrong I belive all 2nd generations 3500 are dually's and the lugs are the same unless you are using some kinda Alu wheel. . ex Alcoa, factory Mopar. . etc

I just Called Dodge and they confirmed they are the same part number for lug nuts for 2500 and 3500 with steel wheels, part number is 6034726

What kind of wheels are you using?

i have a '01 2500 and an '01 3500 (father in laws) sitting in the garage ... .

the srw uses tapered lugs and the drw uses a flanged type of lug nut on the stock steel rims ...

when i went to the dealer they brought out srw lugs ... i told them i was converting to duals and they looked up the other style ... told me they didn't have any but could get 'em for 8$ a piece ...

redlinear was the first place it tried ... no luck

a call to New Era diesel got me what i needed ...

thanks for the posts

let me know if you need any info on how to install any of it I just did a ford not to long ago the only problem you will run into will be the fenders puting the fender liners in if you got factory the lug nuts should be the same for both srw and drw you just have to make sure that the threads are the same

just rememberd I have a set that you can have rickson truck wheels has them they are off of a ford dually so we just have to make sure that threads are the same I also have a set of of the front dually adapters that are off a ford but will fit you ford has same bolt pattern so you can bolt them right up

if you want to see a photo of what the factory dually lug nuts look goto page 22-11 of the '01 shop manual and you will see what i'm talking about ...

like i stated above a quick call to new era diesel located a set for me but thanks for posts guys

Are you sure about useing the cab and chassis rear end. It is narrower than a standard dually rear. You will definately have to take out your inner liners.

yep it's all done ...

we had the cab and chassis, srw and drw all out on a garage floor

drw is 1" wider than (on each side) srw which is 1" wider than cab and chassis

did have to clip the inner fender and bend the lip under the wheel well in case axle is tucked up under ...

tires stick out 4 inches past side of bed ...

gonna get 4 inch flares instead of full size dually fender ...

truck looks really "stocky" with 235/80/17s just hope those flares get here quick ...

livin' on a gravel rd is ruff with 4" of tread stickin' out
