When it rains it pours! At least we need the rain. In the long line of new problems I've been having to fix the latest is a massive fuel leak on top of my fuel filter housing. Upon inspection I noticed a crack down the lenght of the tapped port where my fuel pressure hose goes. #@$%!



I'm letting the silicone gasket repair dry right now, but I'm sure that won't work, so I'm going to need a new filter housing. Mine is a '98 with the older style filter, but I prefer the '99-2002 style with the twist off top. Are these interchangeable, or are there any ideas for aftermarket replacement with a spin on filter???
 
Bump that to 2000-2002 then, sorry. Dad's 01 had a twist off platic lid that reveals a drop in filter.



I do like having the pressure ports on top with my style though
 
You need to swap with a FS1253V Fleetguard filter/WIF, and then get the head for a '96. If you buy at Cummins you will also need the adapter(nipple).
 
If you're talking about the style that is on my '99, then you can mill the bung off and just tap it again. That is what I had to do after cracking mine from overtightening.

I must have overtightened mine while putting on the new isspro Mech FP gauge even though I was using a shorty wrench with my hand in the middle of that. I must be really strong!



JB Weld is drying now, of course I'm not going to trust that and will replace it, just don't know when I can get the parts. My truck will be completly new before long If I keep replacing part at this pace.
 
Thanks Bob, I sent you a PM. The JB Weld is working for the moment, but like I said can't be trusted as a perm. fix, although it's still working for an injector pump leak on our Ford 7610 repaired 4 years ago.
 
You could just buy a FASS (unit with filters) and remove the entire assb. from the whole equation for a lot less (plus added reliability).
