I'm starting to leak water from the head gasket close to the thermostat

but between the head and block. Nothing major yet... . but I can see steam

if I stop. Not really using any coolant to speak of either.

No water apparent in oil so I think it's leaking only to the outside.

I have an Edge EZ on it(LOVE IT!) turned up as far as it will go

including waste gate thing(forget what it's called).

So I'm getting 29 to 30 boost.

My question is since the edge is a smaller engine upgrade power wise

should I just go with a standard head gasket or upgrade?

Should I put new head bolts?

I only want to do this repair once.

I'm living in Anchorage, AK now if that makes a difference. :D

Thanks in advance.

Pete,

Are you going to increase your power level any, if so how much? If you are leaving the truck as is I would recommend a modified 12v marine gasket. You should be able to use your headbolts as long as they are within spec. If you want more piece of mind headstuds could be installed.

In any case be sure your engine is completely warmed up prior to pushing it very hard. Most HG we see fail are do to guys pushing the trucks with cool engines.

I think I will leave it as is. It just needed alittle extra power and the EZ gave me that.

So I don't see any performance mods in the future.

Where would I pick up the modified 12v gasket? Cost?

Same for the studs?

Thanks!

Pete
