2006 Remote Start/Alarm - Install

I really am pulling out what little hair I have left and am at whit’s end. I installed (attempted) a remote starter/alarm on my 2006 and cannot get the thing to work properly. Of course I picked one of the most complicated units to install with a gazillion wires and a tech manual that assumes you know what you are doing (done this before).

Anyway, I have the unit installed but the remote start function does not work. On top of that my engine light is on and when I switch from Park to Drive the indicator only comes on when in P or N and does not indicate any other gear. The doors unlock/lock and the alarm pretty much functions like it should but no remote start.

I have the Prestige/Audiovox XRO9100 with the CHDL7-PK2 bypass. I have been all over the net (mostly Car Alarm, Car Stereo, Mobile Video, and Cruise Control Info for Installers) and get mixed answers/responses when it comes to actually needing relays for this thing to work. The only relay I installed is the start inhibit relay. I have the tech sheet provided by the place that I bought this thing from but I must be missing something. If I could just a wiring diagram of the complete install this thing would be done by now but there is not such a beast. I mostly just do not understand the 2nd start function and how it should be wired.

Anyway, if there is anyone out there that has a decent understanding of these type of installs I sure would be greatful for your help. I can post links to all the manuals, tech sheets if neeeded.

Thanks in advance

I solved my engine light problem and gear indicator light issue. I think the only thing I have left to figure out is the MUX for the 2nd start. The Bypass kit that I bought is supposed to handle this (CHDL7-PK2 ) but I have read on other forums where installers end up going with relays and resistors anyway.

The truck goes through the motions like it's going to start but after the wait to start ticking (20 sec) it's a no start. I checked the voltage and I definitely get the 12V to the starter but I haven't checked resistance values.

Anyway, I'll keep plugging away

I finally had a chance to finish this up over the weekend and here is what my problems were;

There are 2 violet/brown wires in the ignition harness and I found the wrong one. Secondly, the bypass unit MUX did not work for me and I ended up using the relays that I ordered. This seems to be a hit or miss with many other posters on the Internet which confuses the matter even worse.

I would like to switch the defrost button on so if anyone has any values for this I sure would be grateful. :D

Thanks!
