My dad went down to Knoxville, Iowa to watch the Outlaws race with 2 other guys. Mark owns a '01 HO like mine and I have been begging him to get gauges and such and join this site. Well dad, not his truck, just called me and they are with out power in there motor. Truck starts fine but will not go past 1500rpm codes set are 1688 1689 and 1691. I know what they mean and have relayed what the codes mean. Guess what I am asking for if anyone has had the same codes and is there a way they can get to MN on a sick injector pump? Any advice will be greatly taken thanks... ... ..... Jim.

P1688 Internal fuel pump controll failure

P1689 No Communication between ECM & Injection pump module

P1691 Fuel Injection pump controller calibration failure

I don't think there is a prayer of that pump getting out of the city, much less from Iowa to MN.

Have they put on a new lift pump yet? I would at the very least do that. Have them stop at an auto parts store and get an 1/8" adapter and a fuel pressure guage so they can test the pressure at a minimum before attempting to drive home.

Never been to Iowa, so can't suggest any local help. Have you looked into the volunteer helpers signed up with TDR? You might see if one of these folks is close by. Maybe they can at least point your folks in the right direction to get help.

When they die, they die. Sorry to hear it but they'll probably need a VP to drive that thing home.

Thanks John, he has a hand held gauge and they will be going to get a lift pump. They are there till Sunday, and I already thought of the Travel Compainion. Funny though my dad and the gentlemen that owns the truck are mechanics. I was thinking that if I have to run down and put in a pump on Sunday I will, I can just swing by Amusement Ride and get one from Aron, if all need be, since he would be on my way, or I will just pick him up and take him along. From what I have gathered the pressure is at 0, so like we all know that is not cool :(

Sorry to hear about the troubles Spicy. Bring the Little Fat Drops Everything Kid. He just did a VP... . he might be able to help!

After talking with Aron, since he has drove his truck home in limp mode, I think them crazy fools are going to try to get it to at least Albert Lea, MN. Pops lives there and can then give Mark a ride home to Anoka. I will be on standby with a trailer just in case they can't get across the flat ole state of Iowa. So far they did change L/P since Mark had another with him. They pulled the harness off the VP to see if was just a crappy connection. and so far they are still crusing around to the races at a whopping 1550rpm. They are still in good spirts, well in more ways than one... ... . :-laf
