Presently have a TomTom Go 730.

It doesn't show bridges, tunnels and/or rivers/streams.

I'm looking for a new GPS unit that will do the above, plus show elevation and topo features, show county back roads (not off road).

I was hoping someone might know of something new that I have not run across that's just out or soon to be out. Could you point me in the right direction.

I don't go off road but sometimes want to have the option to head out into the unknown areas and not get lost:{ or into trouble. #@$%!

Thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks for your help.

Tom

I'm running a Garmin Zumo 550. I have topo maps loaded. I have to switch off City Navigator and enable Topo maps. Topo maps displays some "Jeep Trails". It also has lots of Forest Service roads. It's nice being out in the woods knowing the height of the neighboring hill/mountain. Zumo also has an MP3 player and built in Satellite Radio. I don't pay for the Sat Radio service. The Zumo is waterproof.

I have a TomTom 910 and it has served me for several years. I have relied on it as my savior when I was on the road chain hopping from address to addy when I was doing Fire Damage estimation. It never once gave me a wrong turn. now with the NEW "live" series from TT I would pony up for he new 940.

The new HD traffic and fuel pricing on the run features are seriously nice. My 910 has a 20Gb hdd built in that I see many new models do not have. Then again the new 940 Live has speech recognition, and live map updating so it has to have some serious processing power built in.

You need to hook it up to your box and up date it. I run the 720 also does one good job we used it in the mountains in AZ this winter and it did a good job. I dont leva home with out it.

I got a Garmin 765 not sure if I can load TOPO maps or not but I brought it with me to Europe and loaded the Western Europe maps and it gets me around Portugal.
