We have a guy that went from a 4500 to a 5600. The problem is they sold him the HO flywheel. Now that he has got it all installed the starter is not lining up with the ring gear. The 5600 high output requires a starter spacer and his local dealer is unable to obtain the part number so he can get his truck up and running. Does anybody know or have a dealer that would know the part number to the spacer and bolts? The guy has a load that he needs to get delivered and time is money.

Thanks for you help.

Peter

I was talking with Blumenthal's yesterday about this very thing. The guy I talked to seemed to think things would match up. If you can't find the proper spacers, what about have the SO flywheel modified to fit? They told me that was an option.

Yes, I make the clutches for Blumenthal's. You are right, all that would have needed to be done was to use my conversion package where I re-drill the 5sp flywheel. He was not dealing with me or Blumenthal's. He was working through a dealer. We are trying to get him fixed up without having to pull the transmission again along with cost of a different flywheel and the shipping as well as the down time. If we can locate a spacer he is on his way.

Peter

Blumenthal's quoted me $900 for the clutch and flywheel. Are you saying that I'd be better off reworking my flywheel and buy the clutch separately? Also, what's a ballpark figure for reworking the flywheel?

Is the spacer a normal item on the HO?

Can you post the price of the spacer, too? I need to add the part number and price to my list of things to buy for my future conversion!

The price on the spacer was $85. 00

What you want to remember is, if you use the conversion clutch and flywheel from Blumenthal's you do not need this part. The guy that was looking for this spacer was a little upset that he did not get in touch with us or Blumenthal before he did this. Just the flywheel cost him $900. 00, the clutch (stock) was $580. 00 and the spacer was $85. 00. The one from Blumenthal's is our CON O or OFE and will handle much more power.

Thanks, that is what I originally thought but your post made me question that.

I'm thinking about doing this when the clutch goes on my 5-speed. My calculations figure that I'll spend around $2400 out of pocket to convert to the 6-speed if I can get $1k for my 5-speed.

Hey Peter, On a different note. It was fun to watch you, Piers and the other guy in the stands at the truck pulls in Muncie. I was sitting behind you. It would of been easier to just keep your wallet out of your back pocket. But it was getting thinner with each time you took it out. :-laf :-laf Thanks for the laughs. Have a good weekend. Jeff
