Replacing Stock Headlamp Assemblies with Sport Ones

HX40 Variable Geometry Turbine

The dealer suggested to me that he thought my truck had a TST plate when I bought it used.

I finally got time to install my 370's and my AFC spring kit this weekend. All I see on the plate is the #2??? I thought it best left alone so I did not pull it out to look for any more identification. I have been able to pull about 36-38lbs of boost with this plate.

Anyone know who made this or have any suggestions for a better replacement. My goal here is to pull hills with no sweat and do a bit of "showing off" on occasion. I still have the stock turbo housing. I am holding back on the 16cm2 for now.

PS, I have not taken a test run yet. When I pulled the return banjo off, the washer was shot and I did not have that size wouldn't you know it?

QRTRHRS:

Maybe I can help you. I see by your
signature that you have a five speed.
TST makes the plates for the 5-speeds
in the following numbers:

#12- 230 H. P. /605 Torque
#11- 280 H. P. /680 Torque
#10- 300 H. P. /700 Torque

My guess would be that you have a #12
and possibly the "1" got rubbed off.
Like you, I also have the TST plate
but my truck is an automatic so the
numbers are different.

I believe you are going to have to
go up to at least a #11 (280 H. P. /
680 Torque) to run the 370's. My
#5 (Automatic) plate is equivalent
to the #11 for the 5-speeds.

You may want to e-mail Joe Donnelly
or Mark Chapple at TST to check
further on this.

I do know one thing..... you are
going to LOVE the 370 injectors!!
They really make these trucks
perform.

Hope this has helped you.

John, I have down graded back to my #12 plate for the winter and to hopefully get the clutch to last until spring. I engine runs fine with the #12. It has been too long since I had it in to make a good comparison, but the low end preboost is alot better than it was with the stock turbo housing and the #11 all the way forward. I am starting to believe Joe Donnelly more and more... . He say "we're just giving the Cummins the fuel god intended it to have"

Go for the 370 injectors you'll luv'em

The 2 is the predecessor to the #12. The 370s will work with any of the plates, but why are you holding back on your poor little Ram? You bought it a full tank of fuel, didn't you? Why won't you let it have that fuel--as fast as it would like to drink it? #ad

Thanks guys,

I got the truck up and running tonight after a long day. To sum up, I put in the 370's, the AFC kit, fully retracting the star wheel, and the ATS manifold. I also have Pyschotty and a 4" exhaust.

I only had time to bleed the fuel system out and get the engine running then had to shower and drive 31 miles to work.

Initially impression is a very smooth idle. Low to about 2k RPM's very responsive. Boost seems to be coming up slower. I want to go over my valve and timing settings and run a few days while I feel it out.

Joseph Donnelly,

What plate would you recommend, #10 or #11? Same as drawson, I may hold off until spring. Save up for the Saks clutch too. As I said in my original post, I will be looking at upgrading my turbo as well.

With the stock 12 cm2 housing, continue with your 2. Get the 11 if you go for the 16 cm2 housing, or the 10 with the HX40. How much power does your Ram deserve?
Sickly finds even the 10 to be a bit lean. He feels sickly with it, and needs more fuel. #ad

Thanks Joseph,

Most likely I will go the 16cm2 route so in that case the #11 sounds good. I would like to say nothing but the best but there are constraints.
