Ram still down in drive way waiting for help or will have to have it towed to dealer for fix . As we have one other vehicle wifes ,I took her to work to day and the belt on the air cond whent out , stoped on way back got new belt at auto zone but do to hot eng and afraid to take off other belts as it a all day job to replace and wife has to get to work was going to do it Sat . Well to night after picking up wife and comming home lights dim dash lights indicators com on Batt 0z gas ect . Check trans light flashing and head lights getting dim . Kept going with hopes of making it home some others tried to make it impossible by getting in the way you know the feeling when you know that if it stops its all over . We made it home put it on charge looked the belt is still intact so it could be the altmator eng is hot and its dark . Ill be up first light see what I can do as we must have wheels . sure seems like bad luck comes in bunches like grapes . Hope some new ideas come from you guys soon , I sure could use some help as soon as possible . Ron in Louisville Ky :( :( :( well after spending hours putting on fan belts alt ,air cond , pwr str ,to no avail , found that the pulley on the crank shaft is rubing on and cutting the head of a bolt holding the oil filter on the eng, seems like problem I have ben having is caused by the seperation of the pulley it has place for four belts V and Flat four groov . This oberservation by me has ben seconded by a guy that knows cars and at the shop I took it to man said it may be that it has rubber inside and is pushing back . It seems that it has ben going on for some time and just got worse . Sure hope they can fix it and it don't cost too much . well ill know some thing Monday on that . The Ram is still in the drive way , and I guess monday the hook is going to be called for and off to the five star , I will post later so this will not happen to any one again . I know that from now on all inline fuzes i put in will be of the rubber inclosed blade type with colored and numbered cost about a doller or less for the holder and fuzes buy them by the bunch ? well thats it for now . Ron in Louisville Ky drive way:confused:   :(

Ron - I feel your pain, brother. I'll say a little prayer for ya tonight before I go to bed. Look for some help in the morning! *grin*

Hope things work out. My #2 ride is "unreliable, at best" - if my #1 ride went out, I don't know what I'd do.

sorting out...

Ron,

You are going to have a million-post rating if you keep having problems...

Any luck from anyone else's suggestions on the wiring? Did you undo everything that you did to cause this disaster?:( When I have problems with my vehicles, I keep them hidden inside so the local Ford boys do not hassle me...

When you get a reading of 0. 4v or something close in a circuit, it usually means it is grounded out or a fuse/link is bad (if that circuit is supposed to be carrying power). I am a whiz at wiring, if I can get a schematic I could help you out. Patience is a virtue here.

If you undid everything, and your fuses are good, then the switch or a fusable link is bad. A fusable link can be blown and still show continuity and voltage. It will lose both when load is applied. you must be 100% sure that your batteries and contacts are good. Batteries can show 12v and still be bad. They will short when load is applied. You can usually turn on the headlights, domelights, brake lights, and see if the voltage gauge on the dash drops into the red with the key on. A dimming dome light is a sign of a bad battery charge as well.

There has been countless times I have worked on a car with the domelight or other accessory on, and found the vehicle dead afterwards. It is a sign of weak batteries 99% of the time.

Sorry for the post. There are just too many variables to tackle at once. you will have to start at the top and check everything out one step at a time.

Good luck and be sure to post the findings.

Ron just got my truck back from Cummins Cumberland over on Bluegrass Pkwy in Louisville, they fixed the waistgate sensor for me. If anyone can find out what your problem is these guys can they are great, not cheap at $68 an hour but they know what they are doing. They even have dino to check power ratings. My Luck has not been that good with dodge dealers:( , they really don't have a clue whats up with are trucks, but there is one in Shelbyville KY that does have an actual diesel machanic. If you want the # for Cummins in Louisville is 502-491 4263 but you have to get your dealer to call them and say that is ok for them to work on your truck to get it covered under warranty.

I hope this helps and you have some better luck in the next couple of days. Drink a few beers it always helps me. :D :D :D

Again thanks for your help sure would he nice if some one would start a TDR chapter around here Kentuckanna area . Ron in Louisville Ky driveway.

I don't have anymore suggestions Ron, but I feel for you. Seems like every once in a while we all get a kick in the pants and it gets us down. . It'll all come out in the wash.

I think you should just bite the bullet and get the truck towed in. No need to stress out with it and it's only money. You'll recover quickly enough.

Doc

By the way... once you find out what the problem is, let us know. It might help out another of the brothers someday.

Ron,

Give us an Update on your truck. I agree with the Good Doctor, after this time frame I would tow it in and have it fixed. You have had some awful LUCK. But I have learned NEVER to say "What else can happen?";) :D

Well its started to rain now Don. Spent the day puting on a new starter on wifes trooper belts and had a bad day first the alt came with insert in bolt hole upper mounting and would not fit in to the mount on eng as they had steel insert sticking through about two thirty seconds or so after thinking about it said self don't take easy way and remove some metal fom starter would void warrenty took metal off the insert on eng hook up every thing and belts came off . took three hours for belts first time two more second time about same third time . Called auto zone about inch longer belt but no go . Went back to square one looking things over and found that the Pulley from the crank shaft is backed up and eating the head of a bolt that holds the oil filter bracket on one side other side seems like metal od some type is stuck between the eng and pulley could be from any ware don't know and have no idea how the pulley could back if that is so . So now have to come up with a plan of action . and how was your day. Thanks for your reply . Ron in Louisville Ky drive way . :(
