My rear brakes lock up for a split second when on pavement but drags when it's on anything slick I just apply normal pressure it is eating my tires up. I have taken it to the dealer five times they say they have the problem fixed but as soon as I drive off the lot it still happens. #ad
Has anyone else had this problem what is it and how can it be fixed. Thanks for all replys cutter1

What is the nature of repairs the dealership has been doing? Have they had the drums off, or are they tinkering with the ride height adjustment on the rear axle? Is the truck empty? Do you have abs? The most obvious problems include leaking axle seals, brakes that have been wet ( such as unloading a boat ), brakes that have been hot. I have seen all these situations change the characteristics of the brake shoes and creat abnormal situations. But the fix is usually replace the shoes.

They have replaced the shoes and put new drums on. I do have ABS the truck is doing it unloaded I think the seals have been replaced they do the same thing if it is wet or dry but worse when wet. I don't know about ride hight adjustment but I have never been told they have messed with it.

I have just noticed something similar. I have 43,000 mi on it and notice it leaving my drive which is downhill and gravel. Seems worse in the morning but I just tap the brakes and the rears lock up. I also notice a new problem when I am driving that might be related, every once in a while there is a drag you can feel that only lasts a split second then goes away. Feels like a trailer is behind me.

Brake grab or pull(as per manual) Looks like they hit the usual (unless they asembled wrong). Have they checked parking brake adjustment. Usually one side only acts up.
Here is something to look at.
" However, when both rear wheels are affected, the master cylinder, proportioning valve, or RWAL valve could be at fault. "
