Installed the new bushing, had column out and pounding the new bushing in colapsed my column. Its now to short to put back in. Any ideas on how to lenghten it back out?
Column is made to crush in the event of an accident... you need a new column. I guess it would be possible to attempt to straighten it, but I`d bet it would never be the same. Then again, if you had it out to attempt a repair, it would just be easier to replace the whole thing.
ebay has a few from 03+ and then a 96 and 97... dunno if they are interchangeable from an older model year. . pricing is definetly less than new tho. .
Thanks I hope I can pull it back out. I'd hate to have to buy a new column. Bushing was tight fit, I guess to tight as the column was colapsing as the bushing was going in. Now I wonder how good the fix was if I have to spend $$$ on a new column.
