Hello all. I have a 94 5spd. with 224,000 one owner miles which is not running right. This is the first time it has let me down. The truck is all stock (maybe the last one?) and starts and runs fine from cold or at low speed. As soon as you warm up and get on the highway hammering down it will start tapping (like a old Pontiac lifter noise) and start missing and dropping cylinders. The throttle sticks a little when pushed hard and will stahl if the clutch is pushed in. It cranks a bit and starts again as if nothing were wrong only to start the same thing over again. I replaced all fuel lines last summer to the new larger replacements, all filters clean, replaced drain back valve and checked for visible leaks.

I hate to think my inj. pump is bad and if it where would act up full time. The transfer pump has about 150K on it. That repair was a hard starting problem. Where do you tap in for the fuel pressure gauge? Besides maybe someone knowing were to look for the problem I also need to know the best source for price and service on parts.

Thank you all in advance for any help I my receive.

Bryan

You need to check your fuel pressure. It may be the overflow valve. I installed my fuel pressure gauge with a grease gun hose with a needle valve into the fuel input banjo fitting on the injector pump. That has helped me diagnose fuel system problems before they got expensive.
