Hello all

Finally got the #11 plate in, and I am not impressed. Seems to have more top end, but that is about it. 40-80 times about the same.

But hopefully I just need to get the AFC to go along with it.

I have the AFC housing forward, star wheel forward, medium spring, and rear screw barely touching diaphram. Havent touched adjustable elbow yet, and hits 28 psi on guage.

If I understand how the AFC works, diapragm gets signal from boost line, to compress spring, to move forward, to let the pump lever move forward to contact plate, to add fuel?

Rear screw on afc gives fueling a "starting point" by positioning the afc stop lug, or whatever it is, spring strengh/star wheel combo determines how much boost is needed before afc moves forward, allowing more fuel, and position of afc housing dtermines start of all the above?

So I need to turn the rear screw in a few turns and see how that helps, to allow a liitle more fuel (and smoke) right off the bottom, to build boost sooner? And then turn the screw on elbow OUT to open up the bleed hole, to fool the wastegate to opening later, allowing more boost?

Try these first and then maybe go to the light spring if this doeesnt help?

Thanks to any help!

Eric, How high are your EGTs at full throttle? I would also except 32 PSI with the #11 plate. Turning the screw in on the boost elbow make more boost. Make sure the fitting are tight going to the AFC housing a leak there would make it so that the diapham would move all the way and get out of the way so that the plate can do it's job.

But I would also go over all your hose clamps and make sure the hoses aren't just letting the boost out. When I put my first plate(#12) in I wasn't getting the boost or the power I thought I should have and the inlet hose to the inter cooler was barely on the inter cooler. I stuck it back on and tighten all the clamps and I had power.

Also I have my back screw(no load) turned in approx. 4 full turns from the first adjustment.

If you still can't get it running right call me. 399-0900 I'll be home all day. Got to get reloaded for the state match saturday, you coming???

Dee, cant get to state match, gotta work:(

Hit around 1200 egt up 1100 south hill in Brigham, 28-29 boost, some smoke not much, darker than before though. Woman seems to think there is more power for sure.

I will get this figured out, maybe I expect to much?

Eric

I put in the #11 plate and medium spring Friday night. I get some smoke at the commencement of roll on throttle. Boost (and EGT) comes up much quicker and I thought power was also quite a bit quicker and stronger from the lower RPMs. Haven't hooked up to the trailer yet to really try it out. Boost pressure tops out greater than 30 psig. My gauge only goes to 30 psig but I think boost peaks just over 30. TSTs web site tells you how to adjust the AFC for more smoke or more low end power. Hope this helps.

More Power

ZEEEW, If everything checks out OK and you feel you still don't have enough power:( then get a hold of some 370 injectors from a reputable source. The proper 370's realy help wake up your low end power and give a real nice increase throughout the rpm range:D

Which injectors do you have? I have a 96 with the #11 plate forward and 215's and I dynoed on saturday at Edge Products Dyno Day in Ogden and hit 332 hp. and 793 torque. Even with the plate in its original position I had alot more power, but forward is definitley better. With straight exhaust and BHAF egts aren't bad, very capable of keeping them in check.

I just put the #6 plate in last week and then yesterday

I put in the light AFC spring. I gained 2 psi in boost and

exaust went from 10. 5 to 12. I didn't think it felt real

noticeable either. I do have a question for you ,if I want

a little more smoke just screw in the allen screw a few

turns for a little quicker spool up?I'm gonna need

some gaskets for the intake if I take it off any more

times. Thanks for the help

Larry

I am not sure what to screw in to get some more fuel. I didn't even change my afc spring. Just put in the plate and pushed it forward not long ago.

All you guys changing plates are you just knocking off the top of the "tamper proof screw" or are you knocking a notch in it with a torx screwdriver? Just curious. I'm anxious to move my plate forward and I'm wander what the best way to get the screw out but make it reuseable would be?

Just throw the screw away, and got one at the hardware store with a big thick Phillips head, makes it a lot easier to get out the next time you want to play. Been messing around with mine lately, and just left it out completely until I get done.

Here is the results of the #11 plate, stock 215 injectors, straight 3",and the Stotty II. I followed the instructions to the T. . and so far I have not touched it. Mine is a stump puller on the bottom end and also on the top end. I see 32# boost and 1100* EGTs. I also can hit 3k very easy before it de-fuels. It still has the stock HX35-12cm turbo... I am very very please with what the #11 plate did for my truck

Hello all

I turned the elbow screw in all the way, still only hit 28 psi boost. I am going to do the Piers pump lever check next. If I find that is ok, then move the plate forward, I assume I will have to do the lever check again, from moving the plate?

Taking the elbow screw out, showed no smoke from half pedal, putting back all the way in shows smoke, so afc seems to be seeing some boost signal quickly.

Boost for sure is quicker, it just slows down and stops at 28. If I move the plate forward, get more smoke, and still dont get more boost, where next?

Just planning ahead a little!

Got smoke, I drilled a 1/8" hole in the tamperproof screws, drove in a #20 torx, and tapped on the ratchet with a soft mallet as I turned, was easy. I threw the tamperproofs away and used metric allen screws.

Check your intercooler lines if you haven't yet. Sounds like you have a leak. You should be making way more boost than that if you have cranked down the elbow.

When I first put the TST#11 kit in it felt like the power had doubled high end & low!! my boost peeked at 36psi.

I later put the TST light afc spring in. The diff I noticed was a little more power on the low end, much better smoke control, & top end power 200+ rpm quicker but it did not change max boost.

Just my $. 02 :D

Make sure you have no boost leaks (I blew a hose off when I first installed the kit) & check your gov. lever adj. ??

Good luck;)
