gauge read today that i had a 1/4 tank left, but fuel pressure gauge was dropping up an down. so i filled up an it took 31. 5 gal. in my 34 gal tank. low fuel light never came on. truck has been doing this for quite a while now. what do i need to replace to fix this problem? anyone have this problem?

Yes, I have this problem too. The fuel sending unit needs to be replaced. It is a DC only item. I just keep my fueling to 500 miles and don't look at the gauge anymore.

Is it the pressure or level?

Level= fuel guage sender (dc only)

pressure = lift pumb bad. . replace as soon as possible

just called the dealer they said 55. 20 for the sending unit does that sound right? ithought i was told in the past they r a few hundred dollars.

I got mine for $43 I believe, out of Kansas City from a dealer. You might look back in the archives for the name of the dealer. I was lazy and had a llocal mechanic change mine out, charged me $70. 00, sure is nice to have a new sender in it.

its the level,i have a fass system. how much r these sending units? r they hard to change?

The hard part is deciding to drop the tank or lift the bed. If I were to change mine out I would go with the bed-up method.

I don't know the cost of the unit.
