Gooseneck vs. 5th wheel

Truck Campers

My two month old truck now has a passenger mirror that has become so lose, it will not stay put after ajustment.

Does anybody know the secret to tightening up the mirror so it will hold it's position? I've looked all over the housing and pulled the little rubber plug in the back and couldn't find what looked like a tensioner adjustment screw...

My mirrors are the new "flip up for towing" ones that came on my 01. 5 DTH/DEE.

Thanks in advance for any info you all might provide.

Incidently, I depart from Modesto, CA for Elizabeth City, NC on the 4th (God Bless the USA) and will begin working in NC for four years. I'll log fuel used and milage and make it available for any interested. My truck has just 3800 on it...

Sounds like a warrantee item to me.

I did note that you plan to take off in a few days. The only thing that MAY be an adjustment is exposed when the mirror is removed. There is a long threaded rod that goes from near the door toward the mirror head. the rod is about 3/8 inch diameter and has a nut on the end that is near the door. I don't know if turning the nut would tighten things up or not.

To remove the mirror you need to remove three screws from the interior door trim panel and pull the panel loose from the TWO clips that are closest to the mirror mount point (you may end up destroying the clips—$1 each at the Mopar parts counter). You will then have access to the three nuts that attach the mirror to the door.
