Need some expert advice. Truck has been getting harder and harder to start for the last couple of weeks, finally died and would not start, luckily was at home when this happened and did not need to get towed. Over last couple of days i have replaced the fuel filter,fuel lift pump and added 5 gallons of fuel just in case gauge was not working,still would not start. After reading some articles on the tdr i tried cracking loose the injectors and cranked it over, after about 5 seconds fuel started to shoot out. So i tightened them back up and tried starting it again, it started right up, i left it run for about 10 minutes and shut it off, waited for about 5 minutes tried it again and it would not start again. So i went through the whole process again, and same thing happened started right up, shut it down and would not start again. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thank you.
 
I would check the fuel shut-off solonoid (I apologize for spelling), the two wires attached to it, the blue one is the switched wire, check for cleanliness and good contacts.
 
My guess is that you have an air leak in the fuel system. Check all the fuel lines and make sure that all the connections are tight. It is also possible that the fuel hose between the tank and the lift pump is not air tight.
 
I agree that you should look for a leak.

My son and I have found fuel leaks by "slightly" pressurizing the fuel tank thru the fill tube. Wrap a rag around an air hose to seal up a little and blow some air in... like maybe 10 psi or so.

If you have a helper to to do the pressurizing, the leak should be fairly easy to find.

It could be any one of the above listed items, along with a few other possibilities. My advice is to start with the cheapest/ easiest fix (i. e. matches' 5 cent wire connector end), then work your way upward. Dont overlook the simple stuff.



When you bleed the lines, start at the fuel filter, with the bleeder screw (10mm) inside the banjo bolt (on the intake). When fuel flows from there with no bubbles, move up to the injectors. DO NOT LOOSEN THE LINES at the pump. loosen them at the injector bodies. We had a similar experience with a 4B power unit last summer. Boss messed with it for an hour and a half; I had it going inside of 10 min.
