My friend has a 95 F350 with a 7. 3 Powerstroke and the darn thing wont start and I am looking for some tips before I go home this weekend and try to fix it. He said he was driving and hit a bump and the truck turned off which to me sounds like a loose wire. Then he starts trying to trouble shoot it so he tries to check the codes with his Superchips and is isnt getting a signal from the ecm. Next he swaps in a 97 computer, which may not work because I know Ford did some messed up stuff them years with the electronics, and nothing happened again. He last tried a new CPS and that did nothing. Now Im telling him to check all plugs and ground wires, its not getting fuel because it runs on ether, so the injectors arnt firing, I know because he said the filter housing is full of fuel. I think it might need a new ecm.

Any Ideas?!?!

Thanks

Chris

I think I remember something about oil pressure and an oil pressure sending unit providing a signal that is required before you will get any fuel. Hope this helps. .

It wont let me become a member they ban hotmail for some reason, does anyone else have a membership there or get one to post this?

Not to ask a stupid question, but is it something minor like a ground wire at the battery?

Nothing like smacking the battery terminals with a wrench and starting the car to impress someone. .

Good luck, surely it is something more serious :)

Try going back to the diesel stop and look at the rt side of the page while in the forums. There is a search feature. Type in your problem and see what comes up. When I did this one of the first things that came up was a fuse under the dash that can blow if the fuel heater shorts that will cause the same symptoms you are having. In that instance it was a corroded wire in the fuse box. .

How about the inertia switch? I'm not sure if the PowerStroke has one (but I bet it does), but all the Ford gassers have an "inertia switch" that shuts off the fuel pump if the vehicle is hit (to prevent fuel pumping out after an accident). A hard enough bump or pothole can trigger it. To reset it, it's just a pushbutton switch usually located behind one of the kick panels. The location should be in the owners manual.

Hope this helps!
Gene

Depending on how hard the "bump" was check the batteries. Could've been corrosion was knocked loose and shorted out the battery. Had this happen sometime ago.
