I’ve got a dilemma? Self consciously I purchased my truck without the cab lights. I love the way our trucks with the cab lights. As a fellow today put it, makes the truck look “beefier” Anyhow it was some six months after the purchase of my truck that I realized I did not throw this must have option into my purchase criteria, as I mostly wasn’t thinking about the option. Anyhow I work for a Dodge dealer and unknown to me there is some sort of recall, where a few hundred 3500 trucks were shipped throughout the 2006 model year without cab lights. Anyway a few people have declined to have the lights added to their trucks. This has made it easy for me to score a set, and all I have to pay for is the install. Should I do it, or not? Also if I do it myself are there any special tools or bits I need to drill for the holes? Is the wiring already there in the roof or post? Any help appreciated?

Dude it was absolutely foolproof. take your time lining up the template, (center light lines up with the rearview mirror. make sure the outside 2 are equally spaced from the front. 3 holes per light, 1-7/8 hole and 2 -1/4" holes for the screws. wiring harness is complete, directions are great. took me 2 hours and a beer break or 2. any questions fire away!

My truck didnt exsist the way I wanted it so the dealer built mine. It also didnt have them and they added them for me. my 99 didnt have them and I regreted it everytime I saw another truck with them so my 06 HAD to have them!

madmax you HAVE GOT to bring that rig to coffee night, its in Derby off rt34. Check out the link in my sig for directions!

Now back on topic!!! :-laf

My 06 doesn't have them either (2500), my old 3500 did. Didn't think I'd miss them, but it just doesn't look right.

Do you know the part number for the kit? And does it come with everything; lights (obviously), wiring harness, template, directions?

Also heard that there is a plug in the driver side A pillar. Is this true?

Thanks!

madmax just saw your other thread, see superram in your sig. isnt yours :{ but I guess you can still come by derby anyways :-laf

man 3 posts consecutive inb 1 thread theres gotta be some kind of rule against that

Does anyone know if the plug is in the passenger or driver post? This makes a difference if I do the install or I have the dealer. I have a gauge set mounted on my driver post, I would rather not have the dealer mess with the gage set trying to find the pig tail for the lights. If it's in the passenger side post I will have them do it.

on mine, in the driver side a-post, there was an unoccupied female end plug, which looked to have 6 wires or so going into it. I ran the single wire down the a-pillar through a plug in the firewall to the junction box.

the factory wire harness for the light kit dosent have a plug to plug into the a-post unused plug.

The factory directions say nothing about utilizing the unused plug.

I believe that plug is for the overhead computer. Do you have an overhead?

Personally, I'd prefer not having the cab clearance lights, but had no delete option on my truck. I'd rather not have 5 gaping holes in my roof.

Well I ordered a set today because I have to have the '5 gaping holes in my roof'.

I have a question for Signal73, what method did you use to drill the larger 7/8 hole? With thin sheet metal I do not want to bend any metal.

Thanks.

I do have the overhead console, maybe there is a sunroof option?

Hmmm... maybe I'm remembering things wrong. Maybe my connector isn't plugged in. It's been a long time since I had the pillar apart.
