I have a ETH/DEE that seems to have high EGT's while running empty. I have a post turbo pyrometer (i know pre turbo is prefered but I have to work with what I have) that reads 800 - 900 degrees while running up a 6 mile 7% grade at 65 - 70mph. It will climb to 900 and stay there if I don't back off it and today I even had to downshift to 5th to get the temps down. The truck only has 500 miles on it and it was close to a 100 degrees out today. Does this sound normal or something I need to look into? The engine is completely stock with the exception of the pyrometer, exhaust brake and a Amsoil Air Filter. I would expect these temps if I was towing but this seems high with a empty truck. My old Chevy with a gas 350 would easily do 80mph up this same grade. Seems like I should be able to do 70mph with my new truck without outrageous EGT's.
