can anyone help me i need to take of my fan off and i dont no how to and what tools do you need to take of the shroud and fan i have a 2002 2500 ram thanks alot

If your fan is the same as earlier models, you need a 36mm wrench and some way to hold the fan pully. Some use large Channel Lock pliers and a helper. The fan nut is LEFT handed and it's on there pretty tight. Some have had luck with a flat nosed punch on the nut, but I just buggered mine up when I tried that. I hit the wrench with a dead blow hammer a few good licks and the fan nut came loose.

In order to get the shroud off you need to take off the coolant and windshield washer bottles. They are a little tricky because there is a nipple on the back that fits in a hole in the bottle holder.

I hope they have improved this setup for your truck, but that would surprise me.

I bought a vise-grip chain wrench for holding the pulley, does a great job and doesn't mar the pulley. Only problem is you have to partially remove the belt to use this tool (at least off the fan pulley). After I shelled out $28 bucks for them I found a ton of other uses so I'm pleased with my purchase.

A very cheap 1 7/16" wrench!

Find a very cheap (throw away) 1 7/16" open end wrench. It be thin enough to fit on the fan nut. Position it staight up and down. Give it a whack clockwise to the right as you stand in front. It will take a few hits and it will come loose.

You can wedge a large flat blade screwdriver between the fan hob bolts to help hold. I just put a little pressure were the belt goes over the altanator with my left had and hammer with the right.

You can also get the fan out the top with OUT removing shroud. Takes a little manovering but it will make it out.
