I am in the process of getting a 85 Dodge Crew Cab 4X2 Shipped from CA to Michigan. Can anyone recommend a shipper ?(my old one was totaled two weeks ago by a woman who can't read stop signs  ) Also is there a safe way to pay the owner on the new truck without getting ripped off .

Thanks

Hey Kyle!:)

When I used to live in Michigan I use to ship my street motorcycles out West almost annually and then fly out & ride them back home for a vacation.

I used a company that GM uses to ship its Durability cars back & forth from the Milford Proving Grounds to the Desert Proving Grounds in AZ.

Check w/ Pilot Transport in Tempe AZ @ 1-800-458-6529 for a quote. The Michigan # is 1-800-252-7733 and their operations are out of Brighton, MI. I used to deal w/ a great guy named John Tinham, but when I called to get more info for you this morning is was told that he's on long term medical leave. :(

You can also check w/ Reliable Transport in Canton, Michigan, they provide the same services for private customers & GM.

Both of these companies use the 'Double Decked' Beavertail type enclosed trailers pulled by beautiful, chromed Kenworths. If you're flexible on your delivery time, often you can negotiate for a better price because they can use your vehicle to fill a load when convenient for them. They might be a bit more "higher end" than what you're after but give them a call if you're flexible or just curious.

It was always cool to fly across the country w/ helmet in hand, grab a taxi, walk into a warehouse to see your 'scooter' awaiting you... . slip on your helmet & jacket & ride off for 2 or 3 weeks w/o a care in the world!

I think Reliable does most of the major car co. hauling. When I have worked commercial shoots for new cars they are always on Reliable trucks.

Yes! True Story!

GM uses Reliable most often & @ Saturn we tended to use Pilot Transport more often.

I've seen both... I guess it boils down to whether you prefer "Orange" Kenworths or Pretty Chromed "Black" Kenworths! :):D:)

Pilot is more of a "Family Run" business... .

Hey Kyle,

Sorry to hear about your truck.

Here's the name of a shipper:

Kirk Ranta

800-659-6158

cell: 423-907-5611

He runs an auto glass business and hotshots on the side using a 2001 TD 6-spd Ram with 2-car trailer. He's a Mopar guy all the way and owns several really nice old cars.

How much do you want for your rear doors? I've got a right rear that's repairable, but I'm always open to reasonable alternatives.

I have got 2 right rear doors and 1 left rear door(extra) All rust free, Also one customized left rear door:D . Price $150 + shipping each. Also if anyone wants my old cab(Bare), yours for the taking, is solid and repairable. I will also have other items but will have to wait to see what I need first.

E-mail me if you are interested -- email address removed --
