Titanium 5er with Generator

Was wondering if anyone could give me (or know where I could find) some techinical specs for this unit such as what the points should be set at, etc. Ever since I've had it the thing would only run for an hour or two maximum under load and then sputter and die. Now, when you go to start it up it runs for not even five minutes and then surges, sputters and dies before you can even place any load on it. #@$%! I'd really like to have this unit operating properly for dry camping as well as to run the rooftop A/C on hot days (no dash air on this rig). Oh yeah, I think the prime mover is a Kohler K-582 engine.

Thanks!

Don

Kohler has been out of the rv gen set market for some time but were big players back in the 70s. I would suggest calling a Kohler distributor, they still build stationary gen sets, and see if the service dept has some specs laying around for your unit. If not I would start guessing on point and plug gap, and pull the carb to disassemble and clean. Be carfull with the gaskets and reuse as a rebuild kit may not be available. I would guess plug gaps at 25 to 35 thousands and points at 15 to 20.

I picked up an old outboard years ago that had no support. The maker was out of business. Kinda the same situation your in. I rebuilt the carb with no kit available, cleaned and regapped points and plugs and guessed at settings. It ran like a champ afterwards. Good luck. Bill
