First tow with new trailer and Prodigy controller

liquid rubber roof

I just got done installing the power converter in my 76 Arabian fifth wheel. Now that I have the lights, water and A/C working I would like to get the frig to work on electric. It works fine on LP and I have 110 volts at the terminals for the heating element, so I figure I ned a new element. The problem is that the local RV store says they need a model number to get me the right one. I can't find a data plate on this thing anywhere that can be seen with it installed. From the color scheme in this frig I would say it is probably original. Do any of you know of a resource for finding specs on these old trailers? Or am I doomed to taking it apart and hoping there is a number on the element?

Most model numbers are on a decal lower bottom front in side of door opening . If missing take element to RV repair shop and match it . Hope this helps. Ron Bissett in Metro Louisville Ky

Bad news

Just got in from trying to remove the heating element. I opened up the access panel and removed the insulation around the element. The tubes in that area and the element mount are so rusted that the element will not move in its holder even with pliers. I figure if I yank on it too hard I will end up rupturing the tubes. The frig will still work on propane so I will use it that way until it dies or I find a replacement frig for nest to nothing.

Ron thanks for the reply.

Try putting some penetrating oil on the rusty tube, be careful not to get it on the area where the burner is, might have a fire, if you can ever get the element to move side to side, it will probably come out. bg
