Hey all - Back in early December, I noticed that my truck would lope during the cold high idle. Having only about a month of warranty left (only 83,000 on the truck), I took the truck to the dealership to have it looked at. Initially they found one bad injector and replaced it. After that the lopey idle was still present so they replaced two more "weak" injectors. I continued to have problems so they replaced the remaining three injectors. After those three injectors were replaced, I have had a very persisent P0148 code. They have since replaced three of the six new injectors after diagnostics showed them bad (after only about 200 miles). In addition to the NINE new injectors, they have replaced the FCA and maybe the cascade overflow valve. It is now 3. 5 months later and the P0148 keeps coming on. The tech says the CP3 and the lift pump are all performing within limits. After popping the code 3 times this weekend, I noticed that it throws the code only after a quick deceleration after a prolonged hard acceleration (I was pulling a heavy trailer all weekend).
Also, the engine has develped a very noticible rattle/knock that sounds kind of like spark knock in a gasser or maybe rattling rockers. This started after they replaced the three injectors at one time. The noise is very noticible at initial acceleration, under moderate acceleration and when cruising in overdrive.
Given this info, do you guys have any ideas as to what the problem is?? Any help would be greatly appreciated! BTW, they are still doing the repairs under warranty since they haven't been able to fix the truck since the warranty ran out. The engine is bone stock.
Thanks.
Steve
