I posted this once before, but I didn't get any response. I thought I would try again.

I need help! I plan on putting in a Compustar remote starter system. I have a 6 speed manual (yes, I have the manual transmission Compustar starter, so it is safe), CTD, Quad Cab, Sound and Secure package.

I am a little worried because so much of the “normal” things (like door locks) that used to be easy are now pulses. I am also unsure of the details about the factory security system/transponder system.

I have three questions:

-Has anyone done one of these installs and have any suggestions?

-Does anyone make “cheater” wire harnesses to make the installation simpler and faster?

-Does anyone make any modules to interface with the remote starter and the truck alarm/door locks?

PS: If you are looking for a remote starter, I'd look at the Compustar. They have a diesel input for wait to start), an optional temp input (to start at whatever low temp you set), and a built in turbo timer. They are pricey, but worth it.

I have the BD turbo timer. It only powers up the ECM. The door locks and security system work as normal as far as I can tell.

My install was really easy and straight forward. I had to remove the the dash panel under the steering wheel, the ignition switch cover and the lower driver's side kick panel, the wires for the door locks are there.

I cant stress how easy this was to install, works great and I have zero complaints...

I havent seen any "cheater" plug and play harness's

Not sure about the modules you are asking about. .

I posted this for someone asking about the same thing awhile back,

I just put in the Clifford Matrix RS 2. 1,I got it for $239. 00 from the local car audio shop.

I installed it myself and it was really easy, took my 2 hours start to finish. I did not hook up the siren or shock sensor as I dont need/want those features. . If you wanted to hook those up your talking another 10 minutes

It has the remote start with run times from 12-24-40 minutes. I have it set on 12 minutes.

Just push the button and she starts(after the light goes out)the truck stays locked till I pop the doors with the remote. Just put the key in and turn it,step on the brake and you are good to go... This system has the anti grind function so if you turn the key to far the starter will not engage. . Also if you press the brake before the key is inserted the truck shuts down.

It has the turbo timer with 1-3-5-9 minute runs times. I have it set on one minute cool down.

I just hit two buttons on the remote(with one finger) and it does it's thing. Once out of the truck I hit the lock button and its all secure.

It has a run while out of the truck function that will leave the truck running for 24-40 minutes. I have that set on 24 minutes.

Same drill just push two buttons and it will run for the pre-set times.

It also will start if the temp drops below your pre selected choice and run for a pre selected amount of time,or can be programmed to start every couple of hours and run for 12/30 minute's at a time
