I have an 05' and I took the stock tires off as soon as I could and got 35's. I then sold the old ones to my stepdad (I gave him a good deal). The question I have is will my old tires (265/70/17) fit his truck an 03' doolly. He said he talked to the guy at discount tires and he said no way, they will rub and give you all sorts of trouble. He told my stepdad that they had tires that would fit his truck and could take the practicly new tires off him as a trade in. Who is right discount tire or me?

DCaswell has the answer here... .

As the truck takes on weight the offset of dually wheels is such to allow for clearance between the tires... . the wider tires on your SRW truck will fit the rims but will rub..... and failure will result.....

There is a couple of choices..... if he has a 2 WD truck have him wear them out on the front only... and use the correct size on the rear... . or a spacer between the duallys to correctly space them would work if there is enough length in the wheel stud to correctly support the lug nut.....

Hope this helps.....

I have a 04 DRW with 265/70R 17 and there is no problems with tire rub. I tow a 9,200lb (dry wweight)5th wheel with the touge weight of 2,500lbs and there is no rub or even close to it.

Dad has 285 BFG Mud Terrains on his '03. Spacers on the rear and they still touch a little at times. I would never run with duals touching, but he hasn't had any troubles. No rubbing up front when turning.

There are two spacers on each side of the rear, maybe 1/2" total. They came with the truck so I have no idea where they came from.
