Hey Guys,
Let me start by saying that I LOVE my 1996 Dodge Dually 3500!!! We look at new then decide our truck works for us and has been paid for, for years. She has served us well for 16 years of fulltiming and just passed 318,000 miles.
Two weeks ago, we even treated her to a new BD SuperB turbo and BD down pipe exhaust brake. Ya would think that would keep her satisfied but noooo, she had other plans for us like letting the transmission input shaft break while going up a hill on a narrow road with no real place to pull off! :{ Dutch looked at me, as I was driving, and said What Did You Do???! Honest, it wasn't me!! As I was out on the road waving traffic around a couple stopped. They drove ahead and scouted a safe place for us then towed our Dodge with our Carriage in tow, up the rest of the hill and about 3 miles more to a Cafe. Yikes, towed by a Chevy!!!!!!
We had our Dodge put on a rollback then towed 130 miles to friend & fellow TDR member Harold Bowers in Caldwell, ID. Then Harold, Ermal & Dutch came back and got me and our Carriage safely back to their place.
We want to thank everyone, Harold, Muddy & Randy for all their effort and help in working with Dutch to get our transmission out, input shaft installed and put back to together. Afterwards, who is 80, did say: "That was my last big job!"
Now for our question. Everything works, truck drives and tows great. BUT ever since the transmission was put back in the ABS and brake light have been on. They re-checked this and that and even put a scan tool on it but no luck in getting the 2 lights to go out or finding out what the problem was. The code from the scan tool is P0743. We had to get back on the road so we will have to tackle this down the road once we find a fix!!!
So this is my very long winded way of asking if anyone out there knows how to fix this??? Di
