I had a really bad idea. Maybe it's good. I guess it depends on how you look at it.

I want to upgrade the brakes on the crew cab project. Then a saw a 5500 at an auto show... . ;)

Anyone have pics of the mounting pattern? Maybe even the entire brake assy when the tire is removed too. I need to see if there is a way of mounting these. If it is a 10 hole, I wonder if I can mount it to wheel adapters if I get the correct bolt pattern when I order the 19. 5s.

Hmmmm.....

I can't offer any photos or verbal descriptions but the OEM wheels on Ram 4500/5500 trucks are 19. 5" and I think they are ten bolt wheels. SouthwestWheel used to offer 8 lug bolt pattern to 10 bolt wheel adapters so someone makes them if you need them for another approach.

Don't stop with the brakes, put the whole dang rear axle under that little ole pickup and make a truck out of it:D

seriously swapping in the 5500 complete front and rear axles with a nv271 manual shift transfer case would be sweet. Add the ford styel drive flanges and you'd be bullet proof. They are offering the axles in 4. 10 in the 4500 and you maybe able to find lower highway ratios, just not from ram.

FYI the Chevy / GMC 4500 & 5500 have the big axles and are PASS side drop, the same side drop as our first gens. . so thats another option thats easier. They also use a nv273 DIVORCED Pass Side drop. . I'd check the junk yards for a wreck. .

Thanks

OK. So what is I did use a 5500 axle..... Does anyone know if the mount is different than a Dana 80, or even a AA 1150? Tube thickness would change...

Is it a Dana 110?
