I am looking at trading my 95 on a 96 ext. cab long bed. The truck is about 3 hours away so I need to ask a few questions before I make the trip.

First: How long is the ex cab long bed? (its gotta fit in my garage)

Any major differences in the 95's to 96's? This is a 5 speed 4x4.

I need an extended cab to haul the brats, and I am really wanting to get rid of my auto transmission. I think financially a better move would be made to trade for the stick than to sink 4k into a transmission.

I know there are unknowns buying another vehicle, but with $ like it is today, I have to think long term.

Second: What would be a decent deal? I checked blue book and there is about 2k difference in retail between the trucks, but in a phone conversation he said around 6k difference without seeing my truck. Mileage is almost identical.

This is one of the hardest decisions I have had to make in a long time and I need all the info I can muster before I make the 3 hour ride just to get dissapointed by finding the truck is a pos.

If you think the truck is worth the "trade",and the money is reasonable,I say go for it. I would check the differences of value at Kelley Blue Book or Edmunds,to find the actual values of each truck. As for the length of a extended cab truck,I don't know exactly how muck longer they are ( I have only owned regular cab trucks ),but I am thinking it is in the 22"-24" range, assuming you are comparing 2 trucks that both have 8' boxes.

244''

Somewhere around 20" for the extra length. The 96 5speed has the "GOOD" P pump and 215 hp. The 96 is prolly pretty close to the 95, my 96 and 97 were the same. The only chronic problem the 96 has is also there on a 95 and that is the vacum boost brakes and the problem with oil from the power steering getting in the vacum system but that is covered under recall #720 which is for 7 years unlimited mileage. Otherwise its the same problem wise as all the 12 valvers.

Well that will fit with about 1 1/2' to spare. They quoted me 16,000 on the phone for it, I think they bumped their heads. I might take a ride on wednesday loaded with info and see what kind of deal I can get.

Thanks for the Info
