I'm helping a friend research different Fan Clutch options. I've got him some informaiton on the Horton, but would like to find some information on the Cyclone Fan (as installed on the Heavy-Duty series Ford's)

I had heard that Cyclone was "proto-typing" and testing it in our Dodge's last year, but haven't heard what became of it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Exactly what I was looking for.

I found this site last year, but forgot where I found it.

I called Lee at the number listed (1-800-874-3271 ext. 650). He said that they had run into some unforseen problems with the Dodge/Cummins retrofit/application and that they were still working on it. He said to call back this spring or toward the latter part of February, 2003.

That's good, but this is the same story I got from them about this same time last year...

Price was anticipated to be in the $500 range.

Less money to buy than the Horton and more component monitoring for safety and enhanced operation controls. Hope they can get it worked out.

I'm not "dissing" the Horton. I've been VERY impressed with what I've seen the Cyclone do in the Ford arena and I welcome the chance for us Cummins owners to have more options to choose from - based on price, features, etc.

Ken, Thanks again for the help!

Outside air, cab air, engine coolant, trans fluid temp, throttle position, changes in the air conditioner.

And if any of these reach dangerous heat levels the fan will override and come on. I don't believe the Horton monitors near this many components for safety.

Manual overide, 1 to 1 lockup, automatic feature.

Like previously mentioned http://www.usgear.com/cyclone.htm has some additional information. Good reading, be sure to read several of the links on this page as their is not any one good list of all the features. I found them spread out throughout the various links from the main page.

Good luck.

UPDATE

US Gear has NO immediate plans to do anything with the Cyclone for the Dodge Cummins.

I spoke with Lee (US Gear) and he told me that they know what needs to be done to fit these on our trucks (he did the tests himslef), however, due to limited resources, they have not made any plans to get tooling, production, etc ready "anytiime in the forseeable future... . "

Needless to say, I'm not at all impressed with US Gear "last minute to deathing me" with the same story of "just about got it all worked out" for over a year.

Don't hold your breath

They've been putting them on the Power Strokes for some time now. But, as they say; "Necessity is the mother of all invention" - perhaps we could read into this that the Stoke NEEDS the fan and the Cummins justs WANTS it?
