OK GUYS I REALLY NEED SOME HELP. I HAVE A 4BT WITH A WEIRD PROBLEM. THE ENGINE WAS GONE THROUGH AT A DIESEL SHOP AND NEVER PAID FOR. I BOUGHT THE WHOLE DELIVERY VAN, JUST FOR THE 4BT. THE SHOP WANTS ME TO PAY TO HAVE THE PUMP GONE THROUGH. I CAN GET IT TO START ON 3 CYLINDERS, BUT WHEN I TIGHTEN DOWN THE 4TH INJECTION LINE IT DIES. IT ALSO DIES WHEN I TRY TO GIVE IT SOME THROTTLE. MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS A STUCK INJECTOR ( ALL INJECTORS ARE NEW) SO I PUT AN OLD ONE IN. SAME THING. I'VE TURNED THE PUMP UP AND DOWN TRYING TO SEE IF IT'S A TIMING THING. COULD THE PUMP BE OFF TIME BY A TOOTH OR TWO AT THE GEAR? ARE THERE TIMING MARKS TO LOOK FOR? I THINK THAT I MAY HAVE A BAD PUMP, I JUST WANTED SEE IF THERE ARE SOME SIMPLE THINGS TO TRY, BEFORE I DROP ALOT OF MONEY ON A REBUILD. THE PUMP IS A ROTARY. HERE ARE THE NUMBERS OFF THE MOTOR
