Im working on my brake problem with the ABS control valve unit.

New Partnumber I found is
68078059AA
This is the hydraulic part with the pump only - not the electronic part that sits on top of it that fails regularly. I replaced the top part already many years ago.

It seems to supercede the old Number
52121408AE but I can not confirm this.

I need someone that has access to the Chrysler parts system that can give me Proof that this new unit is a 1:1 replacement for the old number, that there are no additional parts needed to install that unit.

I would really appreciate help here.

Had Quirk run the numbers. 52121408AE supercedes to the 68078059AA, there is a note to use Electronic Module # 5114538AE tagged to that supercession. Do you have the Part Number of the one that you replaced in the past? We could not prove if the module was different, but both of our Parts Man Spidey Senses says the module was not updated...

Hi Mike nice to hear from you.

I've got the 52121408AB, just checked it hands on.

So it sounds like I can attach my electronic module on top of this new hydraulic module.

My electronic module went bad and I was told it can be rebuilt. But then the shop asked if I really needed the ABS function. Some rebuilts did not work or did not last as well as OEM so the shop no longer uses them. I had to say no as I have never locked up the brakes to that extent and I have been driving long enough (65 years) that I don't tailgate. Had to put a piece of tape over the red light though. And the system still dings every time I restart the truck. Recently replaced the rotors and calipers and really enjoy the increased braking power. Did not realize how much braking I had lost over time. I only add these comments for the folks who might read this thread and believe they have no options due to discontinued parts.

Good to know. I might eventually need an instrument cluster. But I hope not. Seems to be one of those common problems. So far I have avoided some of the pitfails of the 2004.5 trucks but time is against me. Been a great truck for towing/hauling. I have some rear end noise going on at high speeds but I can ignore it for now. Living in a mountain region is really nice but good specialty mechanics are scarce. Hope to avoid trans or rear end problems.

Ozy,
Sometime back I replaced the top ABS electronic unit with the same one you listed above: 52121408AB. I bought it used from a junkyard/Ebay. Works fine. If I remember, that number was slightly different than the one that came originally from the factory. Mine is a 2004.5.
