Do not go in from the top, it is way too difficult and you really take the risk of dropping things down in the pump. The side is the way to go. It is very easy. Just remove the fuel shutdown solenoid to get access to the plug on the side of the pump. Remove the plug with a 7/8" socket and rotate the engine until the spring comes into view centered in the hole. Remove the retaining nut and retainer. Remove ALL the inner springs and ALL(if any) shims. Depending on which kit your got 3 or 4K, you will be reusing the largest outer spring with the 3K and I believe you will be using all new springs for the 4K. I did the 3K on my engine so I had to reuse the outer spring. Put the new springs in, put the retainer back on and the nut and tighten down until you get the same measurement that you had as stock. Ooops! Forgot to mention that before you remove the nut and retainer, measure the distance from the top of the retaining nut to the top of the retainer. This is somewhat critical upon reinstallation for proper idle setting. You may have to adjust ilde upon completetion.
Did I leave anything out guys?
