Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Need KDP jig kit

Folks, I sent a note to one of the KDP kit keepers and never got a reply. I used to be a KDP keeper, but gave it up when I bought a 3rd gen truck and was no long active with the 12 valve forum guys.



My cousin bought a 97 and we would like to kill the KDP in the near future while doing a valve adjustment. I'm in NW Pa and he's in NE Ohio. How can I get a hold of one of the kits?

In 2004 I got mine from TFabian. He was a member then I don't know about now. Haymarket , VA. Cell 703-314-1393. This 2nd gen form is about like a ghost town now must not be many of us left. A lot have moved up or out.

Isn't there someone who keeps track of where those jigs are? I know there used to be. It was quite organized and there were waiting lists.

I really do miss my 95! The guys on this forum back then were awfully nice. Seem different than on the newer truck groups.

Yeah I drove by both of yah last weekend. Most folks are going with tab the dowelpin these days, that way they can also be sure all the bolts under the cover are tight as well.

Have those bolts been a problem too? I'll have to ask my cousin how much he wants to get into. He had a 97 dually that had a KDP fail years ago. It came up through the top and punched a hole in the aluminum. He never pulled it apart - just epoxied the hole and it was fine for years.

Tabbing would be the way to go! I have Joe G's. and TST's instructions for tabbing. It is more work but you know it won't come out. Also 97's were more prone to loose the kdp.

And even so it's only a couple hour job, while reading the directions. I bought the gasket kit from NAPA and ground my own tab.

Mine at 160ish miles was out about a tenth inch.

When you look at the work your about to do, which is just a temorary fix, to TAB, its just one step away from doing the tab and the bolts in side. Cover removal is whats left. Just keep track of where the bolts go back to because of different lengths and the measurement on the timing pick-up modual. Make your own tab, buy the kit. be careful you might be able to save the gasket. Get the repair intructions for the tab its not that bad. Do it right. And use a longer bolt.

I took the front of and it the kdp hadn't moved I put a tab on it anyway .
